Plain explanations of image formats, so you can pick the right one the first time.

How ManyFormat works

Most of us only think about image formats on the day something goes wrong: the form that refuses your photo, the logo that prints with a white box around it, the screenshot that turns blurry. ManyFormat is here for that day. Drop your files, pick a format and download the result, usually in a few seconds. It handles the formats people actually use: JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF, AVIF, GIF, ICO and BMP, and it also reads HEIC photos from iPhones, TIFF scans and SVG graphics.

Your pictures never leave your hands. The conversion runs inside your own browser with open-source codecs, so private photos, ID cards and unreleased designs stay on your device. Nobody else sees them, not even us.

Everything is free and needs no sign-up. You can convert many images at once and get a single ZIP, resize for Pinterest, Instagram and Etsy, choose the colour that fills transparent areas, and rename files in bulk. A computer can handle around a hundred images at a time; a phone fewer, because it has less memory. And whenever a conversion loses something, such as transparency or the motion of an animated GIF, ManyFormat tells you plainly before you rely on the result.

Not sure which format you need? The guides below explain it in plain words, starting with a simple map that leads you to the right answer one question at a time.

Questions people ask

Is ManyFormat really free?

Yes. Every tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The site is paid for by a small number of clearly labelled ads.

Do you upload or keep my images?

No. Conversion happens in your browser, so your files never reach our servers. The privacy page explains what is stored when ads are shown.

Which formats can I convert?

You can open JPG, JFIF, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and HEIC, and save as JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF, AVIF, GIF, ICO, BMP or a traced SVG for simple graphics.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The conversion runs on your device, but the part that handles each format is downloaded the first time you use it. If your connection drops, ManyFormat shows a notice. Formats you already used during this visit usually keep working; a new format needs the connection back.

Why is converting slower on my phone than on my computer?

Because the work is done by your own device instead of a server. Phones have less memory and power, so large photos take longer and fewer can be added at once. That is the price of never uploading your pictures.
